When I hear the phrase “its an old family recipe” I think of my mom’s Sweet Sour Spareribs. Whenever I make this, everyone really enjoys this and requests the recipe. I think the gravy that the ribs produce after simmering in a sauce is the absolute yummiest ! Growing up, we always used to ask my mom to make more than enough gravy since we’d be satisfied with just the gravy and rice !
The longer you simmer, the meat on the rib becomes so tender that it almost slips off the bone… are you drooling yet? This surely can be added to the ‘comfort food’ list.
Tip: If you splurge it and use pork back ribs, the cooking time is much shorter. But if you have the time, you can save yourself a little money and use the regular pork sparerib slab.
Note: I often use the boneless country-style ribs and cut them in small pieces and cook them in the crockpot. It becomes so tender and no need to use your fingers to eat it.
