Braised Shortribs

I wanted to try a recipe for something that I’ve been thinking of eating. I recently bought a magazine Fine Cooking, which featured some braising recipes and even went to a Braising Cooking Class. But, none of the recipes suited my ‘craving’ for the braised shortribs that had that little touch of tomato sauce. I searched the internet and found a recipe from the Gourmet Magazine.

I made it tonight and my family gave it 4 stars. I made some modifications: I added fresh mushrooms that I sauted a little before adding it to the pot, I also used the frozen package of pearl onions (gotta make life easier!), added about 2 T. of tomato paste and I thickened the dish with a bit with flour/water slurry.
