My hubby enjoys ‘trying’ to grow things in our backyard. He’s been successful with some plants like our pineapple plant and our very fertile lemon tree. Here are the proof of his efforts. Although the lemons look green, they are still so juicy! If left on the counter, they turn a pretty yellow. I couldn’t wait, so I went ahead and made a batch today.

Whenever the lemon tree produces the hundreds of lemons, I make finedene . Finedene is a hot sauce that originated in Guam. Even the McDonalds serves finedene! I got the recipe from my Chamorran friend Agnes, who introduced me to this flavorful, spicy ‘ponzu‘ (Japanese sauce made with shoyu and some citrus) type sauce. It’s like a “kicked up a notch” shoyu.
Although I’m a wimp when it comes to spicy food, my hubby and daughter love to add hot sauces to their food. My daughter is hooked to this sauce and uses it on almost everything that she eats … eggs, pork chops, fried rice, fish, hamburger …etc. A bottle of this is ALWAYS in our refrigerator!
Note: The photo shows the Finedene sauce that I just made. It is better if it sets for a couple of days. The heat and flavors will be better infused.
