This Artichoke Dip has always been a favorite of my kids from when they were a lot younger … it must be all that cheese! What kid doesn’t like cheese? The only thing about this, is the more cheese you put on the top … the more it will harden as it cools. I usually mix most of the cheese in the mixture of artichokes, diced chiles and mayonnaise before I bake it. It still was a hit with my family.

After having this dish at Longhis, I decided to do this with my Basil Tomatoes recipe. Instead of pouring the dressing on the sliced tomatoes … I put it on the side. This made the salad ‘fresher’ when people ate it. Layering the mozzarella cheese and the basil made it look very pretty … so Italian, colors and all!

Using the Trip Tip Steak from Costco, we pat the Seasoning For Steak on the meat before grilling. Although no shoyu is used, it has a slight teriyaki flavor. The seasoning uses brown sugar, Hawaiian salt and pepper and makes a great ‘rub’ for steak and even salmon!

There is something about grilling shrimp that makes it soooo finger licking yummy, even if its messy! This Marinated Grilled Shrimp is no exception! I got this great recipe from my son’s teacher Rodney many years ago. My husband encouraged me to take off half of the shell to make it easier to eat and faster grilling. It worked fine and he was right … less to fuss with to get to the shrimp!
Needless to say, we all enjoyed our Sunday BBQ (last Sunday) … too bad we had to work the next day !! ![]()

I love the red color of those grilled tri-tip steaks. You should try the McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning. Costco sells a large container of it for just $4.00. If you like the grilled steaks they sell at Foodland, this is da’ secret! I like to rub a little shoyu and/or mirin on the steak first to help the seasoning absorb and to help caramelize the outside. I tell you, that Montreal Seasoning is a winner. So easy too. No need chop garlic or anything.. just sprinkle on and throw on the hibachi. Winnahz.
If I had that Basil-Tomato dish, I’d probably like to serve it on some toasted bruschetta. Yum!
We had a super-delicious Crab and Artichoke dip at Ryan’s in Ward Center. It was served with toasted Pita triangles. Not sure if they still have that.

oooh, i will try the Montreal seasoning..thanks for the tip! yeah, i LOVE bruschetta too! speaking of costco, they have a new “Meza Sicilian Brushcetta” .. its not bad. it has capers, tomatoes, olives … chopped small so it won’t fall off the little garlic crisps at costco too. i think i would like a little more olive oil and a little basil in it and it would be even better.
i’ve had that crab dip at ryan’s years ago..that was good! haven’t been there in years!
from one foodie to another …thanks for visiting, pomai !
