Ono Broiled Sushi

ono broiled sushi

Ono Broiled Sushi is another yummy recipe that I got from my friend Lori. I had to put this recipe in Da Original set, cuz it definitely is a winner and a hit at all the potlucks! Eaten with crispy Korean nori (seaweed) makes it addicting! Be warned that you may not have room for dinner!

This is very similar to the ‘Dynamite’ that you may be familiar with at some Japanese restaurants, since it contains mayonnaise and seafood. But it has another added touch of furikake nori between the topping and the hot rice.

It is usually served as a ‘pupu’ (appetizer), but I had the craving for it and served it for dinner accompanied with Miso Soup. I think I need to go to bed now. ..aaaahhh.

Thanks Lori for another great recipe !

They sell these at Ward Marukai. Never tried one, but now I will!

If you showed someone that photo without a description, they’d probably think it was a slice of Lasagna or Casserole! :-P

I was just in Marukai today after work. They had this same broiled sushi labeled (as you mentioned) “Dynamite Sushi”. Takai desu - $6.00 for a (small) bento-sized tray. I went to Todai for lunch today (hajime-te desu), so I was already “sushi’d out” and didn’t buy it. Next time.

I also took note of the prices for Tsukemono (great selection!) while there. Prices range from $5-20 per pound (avg. $4-7/container). Takai desu nei. A little goes a long way though, so not too bad. Plus it keeps in the fridge really well.

have you seen the tsukemono at marukai that is all chopped up in little pieces? i love them. they had takuan, ume and the shiso flavored eggplant/cucumber. its good to eat it with rice. yes, thank goodness they last long.

That Sriacha hot chili sauce that you decided to add to this recipe was an excellent idea, Lindy! You don’t even like your food hot and spicy, but you somehow always seem to know just the right thing to add to turn a good recipe into a great one!!
